A leaderboard is a screen that you can choose to display at the beginning or end of the quiz or test showing everyone's scores. Leaderboards can also be useful for companies so colleagues can compare test results and see where they stand in the company or team. It's also an easy way to see who has already taken the test and who has yet to do it.

In this help-guide, we'll discuss the following:

  1. Activate Leaderboard
  2. Standard Leaderboard
  3. Custom Leaderboard

1 Activate Leaderboard

Make sure that you have toggled the button to turn your questions into quiz questions. Then you'll have the option of marking the correct answer, and everyone's quiz scores can be displayed on the leaderboard.

To show the leaderboard, click the Extra options tab. Scroll down to Quiz options and click Leaderboard.

Choose leaderboard

Now you can toggle to show a standard leaderboard, or if you're on the Enterprise plan or above, you'll have the option to activate custom leaderboard. Note that you can only choose to show one type of leaderboard.

You can only activate one Leaderboard at a time. Make sure to deactivate the button for the other Leaderboard first.

Let's see the settings for each leaderboard type.

2 Standard Leaderboard

Toggle the button to show leaderboard and then select if you want it shown at the start or end of the survey.

Show leaderboard

The name that will appear on the leaderboard is the response to the first intro field question. You'll find the intro screen options in the question editor, before the first question. Click add a field, then choose Text-Single Line and type your text to label the field.

3 Custom Leaderboard

The custom leaderboard feature allows you to decide which question responses or other variables you want to display and limit the number of responses shown. This feature is only available if you're on the Enterprise plan or above.

This is an example custom leaderboard displayed at the start of the questionnaire. You can add as many columns as you want to your custom leaderboard and you decide where the data should be taken from - data does not have to be taken from intro fields like the standard dashboard feature, but you can use responses to any question or formula result.

Toggle activate custom leaderboard and you'll be shown a few options so you can create your leaderboard as you wish!

Leaderboard - activate custom

Decide if you want your custom leaderboard displayed at the start or end of your questionnaire. Now you can decide the limit of the number of previous responses to display. Don't set your limit too high otherwise your leaderboard will be very long!

The custom leaderboard is built by adding columns, each one corresponding to a variable of your choice, which could be question responses, formula results, or other variables. Click add column to add as many columns to your leaderboard as you require.

Leaderboard - custom options

  1. Column name - name each of your columns in this text box. The column name will be displayed to respondents at the top of the column.
  2. Click on the arrow to access the variables drop-down menu. This will be the value that's presented in the custom leaderboard.
  3. Sort the leaderboard - either by sorting low to high, high to low or no sorting at all. Note that these are the only numeric fields that allow sorting: |total_quiz_score|, |total_custom_score|, |duration|. This option will not be visible if you have any other value selected.

Don't forget to click Save changes and you're done with the leaderboard settings! You've now added a bit of competitive spirit to your survey!
